Curiosity & Experience

SITTING BOX

With the more complex cabins we often create what we call a sitting box. This simple construction of the interior situation is made to test all aspects of the ergonomics. The positions of the operator‘s seat and all relevant instruments for operating the cab are optimized in the best possible way, in regards to all specifications and applicable regulations and norms,

The goal of the sitting box is to have a well balanced ergonomics package that serves as one the main guides for final design of the cabin, minimizing the risk of large structural changes in a later stage.

MOCK-UP

At a scale of 1:1 the mock-up shows the near final design of both the interior as the exterior design. Besides the ergonomics it as well presents the look and feel of the cab.
Also the exterior ergonomics has a bigger focus, covering the entry and exit of the cab. External structures such as ramps are reconstructed and the cab is usually mounted on a frame lifting the cab to a realistic height.

Next to showing the near final design, the mock-up also serves a base to discuss the possibilities in materials, textures and colours, but also the parts dividing and mounting concept of those parts.
